Completed and graduated from University in Graphic Design and moved back home. The mckenziedave.co.uk / mckenziedave.com domain names were purchased and started being used as an online portfolio for use in interviews with design companies.
Joint two companies (EPCRS and Focus Digital Media) as one of their designers on a freelance basis while also working on my own projects under mckenziedave. This lead to many interesting projects and I started to learn more about the industry and project managing.
Started having a good flow of projects from mckenziedave, I decided to leave the freelance position at Focus to concentrate more on my business however stayed on with EPCRS. By the end of the year I was an established graphic and website designer with a range of completed projects under my belt.
Saw a surge in start up companies needing a brand and website design so i started focusing more on frontend projects, later that year I joint forces with Apptality who helped me with any projects that needed a backend (database, server etc).
Felt I had too many services so decided to concentrate on 3 - Website Design, Branding Design and Advertising. mckenziedave also started hosting clients websites under Apptality hosting services so was able to offer website builds with hosting all for a competitive price.
Hosting services got upgraded and started supplying email servers. I Built a range of websites that used SQL databases along with helping many start-up companies create their brand and online presence. Also joint a company full time as the leading UI/UX Designer.
Decided to expand my front end coding skills / knowledge and took courses in learning Less and Sass. I also took the time to revist Jqurey and learn new ways to code with it so I could incorperate these into my designs and practice.
In 2019 I started learning how to run customer workshops with clients, these would be groups of 4/5 companys all with the same goal. I would run a range of different activites to slowly build and agree upon a design and wireframe for the product being built. Discussing certain choices and reasons why behind them.
2020 was a strange year for everyone, I had to switch to remote working and juggling family life while trying to still complete projects in a timley manner. As I was spending so much time at home I also started taking on more projects via mckenziedave to work on in my free time. One of these projects was an online learning platform which helped expand my knowledge using PHP / Laravel.
